Just for fun, I have decided to compile a list of my favorite reads & authors. Let's see where this list takes us...so here we go, first on my list:

I don't know if I can put into words how much I LOVE this series. It was by chance that I stumbled across the first book in this series. For some reason, the cover spoke to me so I figured I would check it out. WOWZA, what I great decision that was for me. By the second page of Shiv Crew, I was completely addicted. As a matter of fact, I read the whole book in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. Laken Cane is one HELL of an author. This series kept me on the edge of my seat and had me going through all kinds of emotions..."oh my Gosh" moments, "mad as hell" moments, tearing my heart out "Ugly Cry" moments, and just the overall enjoying the "kickass" moments. If you are a lover of dark urban fantasy/paranormal with a kickass female lead and one badass crew, I highly recommend this series. I guarantee Laken will be your new favorite author!!❤️

Book One - Shiv Crew

Book Four - Obsidian Wings
Gruesome murders begin to pop up in River County, and Rune is introduced to the bird shifters--to one bird in particular, a woman named Cree Stark.
When she gets a whiff of the shifters' scents where COS had been executing a gruesome sacrifice, Rune begins to suspect the birds know more about the slayers--and the twins--than they're willing to admit.
Nothing is more important to Shiv Crew than finding Levi and Denim, but when Lex psychically connects with the twins, it isn't good news she brings back.
As always, COS is at the center of it all.
The world is beginning to look at the church differently, thanks to the tireless work of Bill Rice and others like him. The humans' acceptance is turning to fear.

Book Five - New Regime
Rune and her people have been taken under the mysterious wing of the Annex, an agency that works toward Other equality.
But with the new regime comes changes and some monstrous enemies the Annex seems to have brought with it.
The crew finds themselves up against a group called the Shop, whose leader cares only about his lab and the monsters he creates there.
But he hasn't been able to build monsters he can use or sell...until now.
Now Rune must follow a path of horror that leads from a little werefox named Megan to a town full of evil in Reverence, Kentucky, and find a way to defeat something worse than blades or guns or bombs.
Magic.
She can't use her claws on magic.

I'm quite simply stunned. Early on in this book I was struck by the quality of the writing. The blurb simply does not do it justice, in fact I'd go so far as to say it does it a disservice. The plot is tight, fast and credible (paranormal credible!) The internal conflict is strong and the characterisation... there's warmth, humour, darkness, despair and above all HEART - courage and bravery in spades!
It would be untrue to say that this is a well-written book in the paranormal genre with a kick-ass female lead. This is an exceptionally written book with a great cast of the morally grey, black and white.
I'd love to know who Laken Cane really is, I think I've been missing out on a really gifted writer. This book was a freebie here on Kindle but I'd happily have paid full price for this. I'm off now to buy the others. I hope the standard of "Rune Alexander - Book 1" is maintained. Meanwhile, Do Not Disturb! I'm reading!

I have to say I think this is one of the absolute, hands down, asskickenist , best book series I've ever read. The story plot is incredible with this wicket fast pace that keeps you hanging from one cliff to the next. The character are in fantastic depth, even the ones that are not major characters. And in spite of it being a series, it has a very thorough ending with just enough of a teaser that I actually went and downloaded the next book before I even bothered with this review. I honestly didn't want to take the time and stop reading. But after giving such an awesome book, I just HAD to thank the author in the only way us fans have, by taking the time to write the review. So YES!!!! You DESPERATELY want to get this series. Start with the first book though. Way better that way. What are you waiting for?! Go get the book already! You can thank me later!! ;)
